Editing Ideas and Creating Posts from Ideas

Once you’ve captured a spark, it’s time to turn it into a strategy. Use the Slide-out Editor to refine your concepts with live-syncing that ensures your team is always on the same page—no "Save" button required. When your vision is ready for the world, the Bulk Create tool handles the heavy lifting, mapping your media, platforms, and captions directly into a post (or a dozen variations) so you can move from inspiration to publication in seconds.

 Editing an Idea

Click any card to open the Slide-out Editor. You can manage Dates, Assignees, Labels, and Platforms in both the Scratchpad and the Workspace.

  • In the Scratchpad: You can edit Topic & Details, Hashtags, and Media Assets for initial concept exploration.

  • In the Workspace: Click Add to Workspace to promote the idea and unlock Copywriting and Creative Brief fields.

Note on account selection: In Ideas, you select Platforms (e.g., Instagram) rather than specific Social Accounts. We’ll map these to your actual accounts when you convert the idea into a post. Only one brand group can be viewed at a time.

Saving and multi-user editing

Changes update live. You’ll never have to worry about working on an old version or saving over a teammate's work. There is no "Save" button—everything updates automatically as you work. The top bar above the workspace features a cloud indicator showing your connectivity to Sked’s servers, so you know you’re always up to date.

Platforms

Ideas uses a different approach to account selection compared to the Create Post workflow. Ideas uses Groups as the primary selector, and only one group is viewable at a time. Within an idea itself, you select platforms rather than specific accounts. Platform selection is not mandatory to progress an idea through the workflow.

When an idea is used to create a post, we map accounts in the following way:

Platform selection in Idea Prefill in Create Post
None (Default) All accounts within the group are selected
1 or more platforms All accounts of that type within the group are preselected

Sign off — Thumbs Up and Thumbs Down

We’ve introduced a lightweight system for quick internal feedback. Use the Thumbs up and Thumbs down buttons for informal approvals and "vibe checks" from your team. We will introduce filters and controls for Sign off in a future update, allowing you to quickly identify items that need a revision.

Notifications

Notifications for changes in Ideas, user mentions, and more will launch in early March as part of the new Notification update.

Using generative functions inside the Idea editor

Each section of the editor supports generative functions to help you write from scratch or build out ideas from simple bullet points. These tools work with your existing content to expand or regenerate when needed.

  • First Click (Box Empty): The Generate with AI function autocompletes the field by layering in context from your Brand Kit and Content Pillars. It builds the content from scratch.

  • First Click (Field Populated): The AI takes your existing content and creates a new version, expanding or writing based on your notes—perfect for turning dot points into a full caption.

  • Second Click: Clicking again will Regenerate, providing a different angle on the content while maintaining brand consistency.

Note: The Topic & Details and Content Pillar fields provide the strongest guidance for subsequent fields like captions. We layer multiple data points from your Brand Kit into every request. If you find the outputs are too similar, try broadening the information in your Topic & Details field.

Converting Ideas into posts with Bulk Create

Ideas lets you turn a single concept into one post or a whole batch of variations in seconds.

A single idea into a single post

Click the Create Post button within an Idea or right-click a card to select it from the menu. This pushes your content directly into the Bulk Create window, prefilling the essentials for you:

  • Caption: Pulled from your "Draft Caption."

  • Media: Pulled from your "Media Assets."

  • Accounts: Mapped automatically based on your platform selection.

  • Date: Pulled from the assigned Idea date (defaults to 9 AM if no specific time is set).

A single idea into multiple posts

Need to stretch your content further? Adjust the number of posts in the slide-out to create multiple tabs in the Bulk Create window. The AI generates caption variants that stick to your specific Tone of Voice, making it easy to schedule a full series or bank a collection of evergreen drafts.

Archiving and pinning

By default, completing an idea moves it to the Archive to keep your workspace clean.

  • To keep an idea active: Simply untoggle the archive box.

  • To keep it permanent: Pinning a card keeps it in your workspace indefinitely—perfect for evergreen concepts or "pillar" ideas you plan to reuse.
