How To Sync Google Calendar Events To Sked

This guide shows you how to bring events from a Google Calendar into your Sked calendar view using an ICS (iCal) link. It's useful for showing key dates like promotions, launches, or content themes alongside your scheduled posts.

Before you start

Make sure you have:

  • Edit access to the Google Calendar you want to import
  • Events set up as all-day events

Step 1: Create a dedicated Google Calendar (recommended)

A separate calendar makes it easier to control what gets imported into Sked and keeps planning dates separate from meetings or personal events.

  1. Open Google Calendar.
  2. Click the gear icon in the top-right corner, then select Settings.
  3. In the left sidebar, click Add calendar > Create new calendar.
  4. Enter a name, such as Sked Content Calendar.
  5. Click Create calendar.

If you already have a calendar you want to use, you can skip to Step 2.

Step 2: Add or update events as all-day events

This step applies whether you’re creating new events or fixing events that aren’t showing up in Sked.

  1. Open the event in Google Calendar, or create a new one.
  2. Click the event date and time area to open the full event details.
  3. Select the All day checkbox.
  4. Remove any specific start and end times.
  5. Set the date for the event.
  6. If needed, choose a repeat option such as Daily, Weekly, Monthly, Etc..
  7. Confirm the event is being added to the correct calendar.
  8. Click Save.

Repeat these steps for each event you want Sked to show.

Step 3: Copy the calendar’s ICS link

  1. In Google Calendar, open Settings.
  2. Under Settings for my calendars in the left sidebar, select the calendar you want to import.
  3. Scroll to Access permissions for events.
  4. Check Make available to public.
  5. When the warning appears, click OK.
  6. Switch from See only free/busy to See all event details
  7. Scroll down to Integrate calendar.
  8. Copy the Public address in iCal format.

Step 4: Import the ICS link into Sked

  1. In Sked, go to the Calendar view.
  2. Open the Filters panel on the right-hand side.
  3. Select the Events tab.
  4. Click or add via URL.
  5. In the Import Holiday dialog, paste your ICS link into Import ICS URL.
  6. Click Add to Calendar.

The dialog name says Import Holiday, but it can be used for any supported calendar feed, not just holidays.

Once the import is complete:

  • Your calendar should appear in the Holiday Filters list
  • It should be checked by default
  • Events should appear as small markers on the days they fall on

Troubleshooting:

Events aren’t showing up

This usually means the events were created with specific times instead of as all-day events. Go back to Google Calendar, edit the event, check All day, and save it again.

The calendar link doesn’t work

Make sure you copied the full ICS URL, including everything after /ical/. A partial link won’t import correctly.

You can’t find the Integrate calendar section

Make sure you’re in the settings for the specific calendar you’re importing:

Settings for my calendars > [calendar name]

If you’re on the main Settings page only, you won’t see the correct ICS link options.

The imported calendar isn’t visible in Sked

Check that the calendar is still selected in the Holiday Filters list. If it’s unchecked, the event markers won’t display.
