How to add trending audio to Instagram Reels

Choose your Reel's audio while you schedule in Sked Social, starting from what's trending on Instagram. The Reel publishes with its audio automatically. No phone, no finishing touches in the app.

Before you start

  • Reels only. Instagram doesn't allow audio to be added to images, carousels, or Stories through its publishing API.
  • An updated Instagram connection. The audio picker shows for Instagram accounts connected through the publishing API.

How to add audio to a Reel

  1. Select Create post, choose your Instagram account, and upload your video as a Reel.
  2. Open the audio picker. It opens on Instagram's trending list.
  3. Select a trending track, or search music and original sounds. Select Show more to load more tracks.
  4. Use the volume sliders to balance the track against your video's own sound. Turn your video's volume down to zero to hear only the track, or keep both.
  5. Optional: name your audio. If your video has its own sound, this is the name Instagram shows on its audio page. You can only set it once.
  6. Schedule or queue the post as usual.

 

Can't find the audio you're looking for? Use notification posts!

Some things still need to be finished on your phone: a track that isn't in the Sked Social library, audio on a carousel, image, or Story, or stickers and polls. For these, use a notification post. Sked Social reminds you at post time and hands everything over to Instagram.

You'll need the Sked Social mobile app (iOS or Android) with push notifications turned on.

  1. Choose who gets notified. Go to Settings > Manage Social Accounts & Groups, select the Instagram account, and pick a user under Notifications. Do this once per Instagram account.
  2. Schedule it as a notification post. Upload your video, write your caption, toggle on Notification Post, and select Reel. Add a reminder under Notes for manual publishing, like the track you want.
  3. Finish it in Instagram. At post time, open the notification and select Share. Sked Social saves your media, copies your notes, and opens Instagram. Add the audio and post.
