Why am I seeing a lower-quality cover image?

You might see this message when selecting or uploading a cover for reels/videos “We couldn't load the original video, so this cover may save at a lower quality.”

This usually happens for one of the following reasons:

  • The original video file is very large, which can make it difficult to process or load fully in your browser.
  • Your browser is having trouble loading the video, possibly due to limited memory, network issues, or browser performance.

What does this mean?

When the original video can’t be loaded, we generate the cover image using a fallback method to a lower resolution video file. As a result, the saved cover may appear in lower quality than expected.

What can you do?

  • Try refreshing the page and loading the video again
  • Use a different browser (e.g. incognito, Chrome, Firefox)
  • Ensure you have a stable internet connection
  • Make sure your video or reel is set to 1080p resolution.
