Why some LinkedIn messages appear as "Private Person" in the Sked Inbox
When viewing your conversations in the Sked Inbox, you might occasionally see the sender's name displayed as "Private Person" for LinkedIn messages. This is by design, and it’s due to LinkedIn’s privacy settings.
Here's what's happening (and why it actually matters):
-
LinkedIn API Limitations: When you connect a LinkedIn profile to a third-party application, the LinkedIn API (the technical link that allows Sked to access the data) enforces strict limits on the user information it shares.
-
User Privacy Settings: If an individual LinkedIn user has their privacy settings configured to restrict the sharing of their name and profile details with third-party apps, LinkedIn will mask their identity.
-
The Outcome: We receive the conversation content, allowing you to read and reply to the message, but we are prohibited from displaying the sender's name. It is replaced with the placeholder "Private Person."
Why this matters
This ensures you remain compliant with LinkedIn’s data policies while still allowing you to manage and respond to all your messages directly within your Sked Inbox.
Rest assured: You are not missing any messages, and the ability to interact with the conversation is unaffected.
