Writing, refining and translating with AI on Sked
A new AI experience inside Create Post
Overview
Sked Social's AI caption writing tool is built into the caption and first comment fields in Create Post. It lets you generate a caption from a short prompt, then refine, translate, or regenerate, all without leaving the create post tool. The AI uses your brand kit (tone of voice and brand description) and any selected content labels to shape the output.
Available to all Sked Social customers on all plans.
Prerequisites
No prerequisites are required to use AI caption writing. However:
- Setting up your brand kit (tone of voice and brand description) improves output quality. The AI will write in a generic style if no brand kit is configured.
- Selecting a content label before generating will guide the AI toward output that fits that content pillar or campaign.
How to generate a caption
- Open Create Post and start composing a new post.
- In the caption or first comment field, click the Write with AI button.
- In the prompt field that appears, type a brief description of your post — for example: "Announce our summer sale — 30% off all products this weekend only."
- Press Enter or click Generate.
- The AI will produce a caption using your brand kit and any selected labels.
- The caption appears in the field. You can edit it directly, or use the options below to refine it.
How to refine a caption
Once a caption has been generated (or if you've typed something into the caption field yourself), a set of actions appears:
- Refine — opens the refinement panel with quick-tap options and a free-text box.
- Tap any of the quick-tap options (Longer, Shorter, Professional, Casual, Friendly, Persuasive) to pre-fill the instruction box with that prompt. You can edit the pre-filled text before submitting.
- Or type your own instruction directly into the box — for example: "Remove the hashtags and make the tone warmer."
- Click Generate to apply the refinement.
- Try again — regenerates the caption using the same prompt and settings. Use this to get a different take without changing anything.
- Start fresh — resets the generation flow and returns you to the initial prompt input, keeping your original prompt text.
How to translate a caption
- After generating or writing a caption, click the context menu (three-dot icon).
- Select Translate.
- Choose the language you want to translate into.
- The AI produces a translated version of the caption.
Settings
Your current settings are shown in the AI writing panel at a glance. Click the gear icon to make changes:
- Tone of voice — shows which tone of voice profile is currently active (defaults to your brand kit). Click to switch to a different profile.
- Include emojis — when enabled, the AI will include emojis in the generated caption.
- Include selected labels — when enabled, the AI uses your selected content labels (content pillar or campaign) to guide the output toward relevant messaging.
Frequently asked questions
Can I translate into different versions of English, like US or Australian English?
Yes. When you translate into English (or another langauge), your active tone of voice profile controls the regional variant. If your brand kit is set up with an Australian English profile, the translation will follow those conventions. Switch your tone of voice profile before translating to get the variant you need.
Troubleshooting
| Issue | What to do |
|---|---|
| The Write with AI button isn't showing | Make sure you're in Create Post and the caption or first comment field is active. If the button doesn't appear, try refreshing the page. |
| The output doesn't sound like my brand | Check that your brand kit is configured with a tone of voice and brand description. Go to Settings → Brand Kit to review. |
| The output ignores my content label | Make sure "Include selected labels" is toggled on in the AI settings panel, and that a label is selected for the post before generating. |
| Translate isn't producing accurate output | Translation quality depends on caption length and complexity. For best results, translate after refining — not before. |
| The caption is too long for my platform | Use the Refine option and select "Shorter", or type a specific instruction like "Keep it under 100 characters." |
